TWO YEARS ON
March, 2022
Derek’s had his tray set up for almost 2 years. Now he’s back to have his canopy fitted, this time I have taken some photos and put it up for all to see.
After about a year of ownership, Derek decided he wanted a canopy to finish off his dream car. Unfortunately throughout the 2 year break, and Derek being interstate, we’ve had a series of Covid lockdowns and border closes which made it hard for us to firmly coordinate a time to fit it.
As mostly all our trays are built with the canopy connection interface, we knew putting a canopy on at a later date wouldnt be a problem. For those who are not aware, the interface is basically the 12 pin connection at the tray headboard for a seamless connection of your canopy. This plug houses the connections for your remote central locking, canopy internal power, any rear canopy camera power and signal wires and any other devices in your canopy fitout.
If you take a look through the photos below, you’ll see this build has a colour coded paint finish setting itself apart from the others on these blog posts.
The canopy itself is a 3 door 3/4 with the seperated dog box compartment. For the electrical fitout we have an Enerdrive 200ah Lithium battery managed by a Redarc BCDC1250D. Up top, 2x 100w solar panels which will keep everything in check if parked up for extended periods.
While we had the car, the clients asked us to upgrade the headunit to an Alpine X308au with all the normal features you’d expect like apple carplay etc. We’ve also installed a 2 channel camera selector for two rear cameras. Thats one at the tow bar for reversing, parking and trailers and the other mounted up high at the rear of canopy which is usefull for lane changing and checking on your trailer etc whilst on the highway.
For more info, take a look at the rig rundown below and the photos and YouTube walk around.
